Starting The Drug Treatment Process
Admission to Reliance Center™ is simple and straightforward. We have made it that way so that once an individual has decided to seek help for an addiction, the process of getting into Reliance Center™ need not pose a further barrier to beginning the drug treatment process. If an individual has already made the decision to become a patient of Reliance Center™, they can call us and arrange for an immediate (see Treatment on Demand) pre-admission meeting with one of our Medical Directors in our San Francisco office.
If individuals and families have questions about our drug treatment programs and services, they can meet with our Executive Director at our facility, or contact us by phone and the Executive Director or one of our intake staff will explain our programs and services, and answer any questions the family may have. We encourage family members to be part of these conversations, so they can play a constructive role and fully participate in the recovery process. We have successfully built relationships with individuals and families around the Bay Area from Berkeley to Burlingame and San Rafael to Oakland, and look forward to the opportinuty to continue doing so.
At the pre-admission meeting, the Suboxone medication is explained and the process of stopping opiate use is planned. Patients and families are encouraged to voice their concerns, ask questions, and become completely comfortable with the first few weeks’ treatment plans. The patient is told when to take their last opiate dose and when they are expected at the center to begin the buprenorphine treatment.
On the day of admission, the patient also meets with our Director of Clinical Services and a clinical assessment as well as a treatment plan is completed. The Director of Clinical Services takes the new patient though an orientation session where the full range of individual, family and group counseling options are explained. The orientation also covers our program of fee-for-service ancillary care (acupuncture, yoga, massage and chiropractic services).
Within a few days of the admission date, the patient is on Suboxone, off opiates, and getting comfortable with the medication and the couseling schedule. Knowing how difficult it can be to make the decision to begin treatment, every effort has been made to make this procedure patient-focused and free of unnecessary requirements. We want to make the process as comfortable as possible. As a result, we have set up a living room area at Reliance Center™ for our patients and families to use during the admission process, and throughout their course of treatment with us.
Starting with the admission process, and continuing throughout their stay, we want our patient’s to know that Reliance Center™ is committed to providing compassionate, respectful care consistent with our belief in the integrity of every patient we treat.
