Suboxone® Treatment
Suboxone® Treatment in San Francisco and the Bay Area
|
Suboxone treatment utilizes the addiction medication Suboxone to treat opioid dependence (prescription medication like Vicodin, OxyContin, as well as heroin). Suboxone treatment helps alleviate the painful symptoms of prescription medication withdrawal, so that that a patient can work towards recovery while still living his or her normal life at home, work or school. Once Suboxone treatment begins, a patient will experience a dramatic reduction in withdrawal symptoms and also a suppression of drug cravings. At the Reliance Center™ we combine Suboxone treatment with individualized patient counseling. Why choose Suboxone® Treatment at the SF Bay Area’s Reliance Center™? Suboxone treatment offers a humane and dignified way to free oneself from the trap of prescription medication addiction. When a person tries to stop using prescription pills on their own, they often experience serious physical withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, headaches, anxiety and sleeplessness. These symptoms can become very severe and the temptation to |

alleviate them through continued prescription pill abuse can be overwhelming. That is why medical intervention with Suboxone treatment can help patients get over the hurdle of acute withdrawal. However, this is just the first step in recovery. Current medical research reveals that the most effective addiction recovery programs combine the prescription of ongoing medication with comprehensive counseling. At the Reliance Center™ we offer both. What will I experience during Suboxone® Treatment? Treatment at the Reliance Center™ begins with a pre-admission meeting to assess the patient’s unique needs, discuss the medical basis of Suboxone treatment, and answer questions about what to expect during treatment. At this time, a plan is established for the patient to gradually stop using prescription pills altogether. In order for the Suboxone treatment to be successful, a patient must be in mild to moderate withdrawal before they are given their first dose. In order to minimize this discomfort, we provide medications at the assessment meeting with our experienced physician. When the medication is administered, relief can occur within 30 to 60 minutes after taking the first dose. The medication is administered in a tablet form that dissolves under the tongue. Our highly trained doctors work with each patient throughout Suboxone treatment to ensure they are getting the right dose to suppress withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings. Patients take future doses at home. In the initial phase of the program, patients return to our office weekly for counseling and brief medication monitoring.
